Create in me a pure heart, O God.  Psalm 51:10

Dear GCS Family,

I know many of you have questions about our plan for the upcoming school year.  Rest assured, we have worked diligently to create a plan that will allow us to start the 2020-2021 school year on time and in as much of a normal fashion as possible!

The following guidelines have been put in place to help insure your child’s safety:

  • Every student and teacher’s temperatures will be checked as they come on campus.  Students will be not be allowed to stay at school if their fever is higher than the recommended temperature (99.9).
  • Water fountains will be turned off.  All students are allowed to bring water bottles on campus.
  • Masks are optional but suggested.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available in each classroom as well as strategically placed throughout campus.  Students are also encouraged to have their own hand sanitizer.
  • No visitors will be allowed in the classrooms.
  • Teachers will space student desks out as much as space allows.
  • For Jr. High and High School students, the students will stay in the same classroom each period, and the teachers will rotate rooms to try and eliminate students sharing the same desks.
  • When the bell rings to end each period, grades 7-9 will go first to lockers bathroom, etc. and then back to their classroom.  Then, grades 10-12 will then do the same.
  • Elementary students will have “specials” in their classrooms.
  • Lunch will be served in the cafeteria.  Tables will wiped down before and after each lunch group.  Students will be spaced out to help adhere to social distancing.
  • Only 2 students will be allowed in bathrooms at a time.
  • We will still utilize Schoology/class Facebook pages as well to supplement classroom instruction and get students acclimated to these platforms in the event that a student must miss school for an illness or the school must close temporarily again due to COVID-19.

*All of the above guidelines are subject to change as more information is given.

The administration and board have been meeting to have contingency plans in place as well in case guidance from the CDC changes in the future (i.e. following college style of meeting different classes on different days, distance learning plan, etc.).

Be assured that we will continue to monitor the situation closely and will be in constant dialog with MAIS and other school heads.  If circumstances change or new information comes to light that necessitate a change in our operations, we will inform you immediately.  Please know that we will work diligently to deliver the educational excellence that you expect as parents.
